I’m off to BlogOnToys!

A man in a radio studio.

I’m off to BlogOnToys at the weekend and am really looking forward to catching up with other bloggers. It’s always good to see new and familiar faces.

It’s also great to swot up on things relevant to blogging. To get warmed up, I’m taking part in the BlogOnToys Introduce Yourself linky. Let’s do this…

Share a photograph (a recent one so people can recognise you!)

That’s me above. I’m the one in the foreground.

What is the best thing about blogging?

The proverbial doors that it opens. I’ve made some great friends and had all kinds of weird and wonderful experiences thanks to blogging.

What was your dream job when you were growing up?

I wanted to be a journalist and I did actually end up doing that for a while. It turns out that it wasn’t my dream job though. That would be blogging for a living, which I’m pleased to say I do now.

What is your lucky number?

I don’t have one but now feel that I should.

What is your favourite season?

Probably summer. And definitely not autumn.

If you had to choose one what would your favourite dish from the Chinese be?

I haven’t had Chinese in ages! Crispy aromatic duck.

What is your useless talent?

Remembering the lyrics to TV theme tunes and adverts from the 1980s. I’m waffly versatile like that.

If you could keep any animal as a pet what would you choose?

A cat. Even though mine is a complete jerk.

Which one meal would you eat forever? (If you had to choose one!)

The meatball lasagna that my wife makes.

What is the last thing you check before you lock your front door?

My pockets. Both to make sure I have my wallet, keys and phone and also to make sure youngest hasn’t smuggled toys into them.

If you won £50,000 what would be the first thing you would buy?

I’d probably be really boring and put it towards buying a bigger house.

What is your favourite social media channel?

Probably Twitter. It’s the one I’ve always used the most.

Tell us more about your best ever holiday

Is it wrong to pick one before kids were on the scene? If so, my honeymoon in Italy. We travelled up the country by train, taking in Naples, Rome and Florence. If not, then our recent family holiday to the Isle of Wight.

Name one cake you rock at baking

I’m nothing special in the kitchen, but I always seem to be praised for my really basic Victoria sponges. No soggy bottoms here!

Which session are you most looking forward to?

I haven’t actually looked at the schedule yet! I have a five-hour train journey to Manchester though, so I’ll have a look then.

What is your favourite book ever?

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. I think I’m gradually turning into Arthur Dent.

Which special event is your favourite? (Halloween, Christmas etc)

It’s easily Christmas. It’s the best time of year for catching up with family and friends and eating too much.

If the internet vanished right now how would you share your message or life story without a blog?

I would probably try to write a book. This blog was originally intended as a means of trying out content to go in one.

So that’s me. If you’re going, I’ll see you at BlogOnToys!

Snap on the favourite book! And I do think that if I ever went on Mastermind, my specialist subject would be Useless Music and TV Tricia of the 1980s. One day it will come in handy …

See you Saturday, if the rail replacement service actually works for you!
