Here’s a great opportunity for people based in and around Eastbourne to enjoy an acclaimed West End production without the added adventure of travelling to London. The Hunting of the Snark is coming to the Devonshire Park Theatre for two performances on 14 November.
Following a successful stint in London and run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the production is now on a UK tour.
The story focuses on an impossible journey by an improbable crew in search of an imaginary creature. Yes, I am talking about the production and not the joys of catching a train with kids.
The Hunting of the Snark is, of course, based on the classic poem by Lewis Carroll and promises to be imaginative, funny and fast-paced. A cast of five take on numerous roles including the Banker, the Boy, the Butcher, the Baker, the Bellman and the knitting Beaver.
Their mission is to catch the fabled Snark. This is going to be far from easy with several comical subplots to resolve along the way. Plus the fact that they may not actually know what their prey looks like.
Expect wordplay synonymous with Carroll’s other iconic works including Jabberwocky and Alice in Wonderland. Also expect memorable – and, indeed, award-winning – songs, as well as puppets and laughs aplenty.
It looks to be a fantastic family-friendly show. Here’s what others have said about The Hunting of the Snark.
Here’s your chance to win four tickets to The Hunting of the Snark at Eastbourne’s Devonshire Park Theatre. The performances take place on 14 November. The winner will have a choice of the 1.30pm or 5pm show.
