Review: DK Spider-Man books

A selection of Spider-Man books.

One of the films I’m hoping to watch this summer is Spider-Man: Homecoming. I’ve enjoyed all the incarnations of everyone’s favourite web-slinger and am looking forward to seeing how the new Spidey compares.

Dylan and Xander are big fans too. Indeed, Dylan’s main topic at school this term has been ‘heroes’. As a result, some of his projects have involved the likes of Spider-Man. I wish my school projects had been as cool!

Of course, with a rating of 12A there are a fair few kids who may not get to see the film as soon as they would like. I think it will be a little too grown up for my Spidey fans, for example.

There are still plenty of ways for younger children to enjoy Spider-Man though. Including these books from DK, which should be very well received.

Spider-Man: Inside the World of Your Friendly Neighbourhood Hero

Described as the ultimate Spider-Man guide, this new updated edition fully updates our hero’s timeline. It includes plenty of background as well as key storylines and new characters. Needless to say, it’s packed with facts and iconic artwork. I think Dylan will devour this one over the summer. Hopefully I’ll get a look-in too!

RRP: £17.99

The Amazing Book of Marvel Spider-Man

This title is more of an introduction to Spidey’s world. All of the important characters are there, as well as facts about things such as Spidey’s powers and alternative suits. It also includes fold-out pages and a massive Spider-Man poster which, I’m sure, will be on the boys’ wall before the first week of the holidays is out. Xander is going to love reading this.

Marvel Spider-Man: Ultimate Sticker Collection

Kids absolutely love stickers so I know this will be a hit with both of them. It includes over 1,000 full-colour reusable stickers which can be used to create action-packed scenes involving Spider-Man’s friends and foes.

RRP: £7.99

Disclosure: I was sent a copy of each of these Spider-Man books.

  1. Liam

For Spiderman: Homecoming, i’d say Ned is my favourite character, but in otherwise Spiderman is my fav.

  2. Lorraine B

Most superheros I would say a secondary character as they are normally a bit po- faced but spiderman himself is funny and interesting so spiderman!

  3. Monica Gilbert

Peter Parker’s Spiderman. I need to specify because there are others in some story arcs.
