If there’s one material object I’ve missed of late, it’s our winter duvet. Once the cold weather arrived, we got it out only to find that it smelt rather musty.
As luck would have it, this coincided with the opportunity to review Johnsons brand new Click Clean Deliver service. I love it when a plan comes together!
To put the service to a greater test, we also got two large pairs of curtains cleaned. I have asthma and, as a result, don’t get on very well with the allergens our cat produces. Soft furnishings are a magnet for such things – even though these were the only curtains she hadn’t climbed! – so it was too good an opportunity not to get them done.
As we don’t drive, I was particularly keen to give the service a go. I’m always happy to drop things off and collect them in person, but four curtains and a duvet are probably a little bulky for the bus.
Ordering through the Johnsons site was nice and easy. After registering for a new account, it was simply a matter of finding the relevant section and getting started. As you can see from the screenshot below, the site has a very clear layout, so this was simple.
The items I needed dry cleaning were again straightforward to find and add. All I needed to do was add quantities next to the items in question. Had I wanted to, I could have added special instructions. Another useful feature is a window that opens on the right-hand side of the screen to keep track of your order.
Once this has been done, it’s simply a matter of choosing a day for your items to be collected, confirming and paying. Before becoming my own boss, I did a fair amount of user experience testing on websites I worked on and had no complaints here.
So that was the first hurdle negotiated with ease. I soon received a confirmation email and all that remained was to put my items in a bag with a printed copy of my order.
A couple of days later, a courier collected everything, putting it in a plastic container to keep it all safe. Then they were off to Johnsons purpose-built specialist centre to be dry cleaned. I received text messages to confirm when he would arrive, which was very helpful with all the pre-Christmas running around I’ve had to do.
A week later, my items were returned. They were well packaged in bags then boxes. Everything looked and smelled nice and clean. The curtains were neatly folded and the duvet rolled into its bag.
I’m very happy with the service I received and genuinely can’t think of anything that needs improvement. My input was minimal and the job was done quickly and professionally. That’ll do me!
