Petplan drawing activity with The Secret Life of Pets

Ever since we saw the trailer last year, we have been looking forward to the release of The Secret Life of Pets. The animated comedy focuses on what pets get up to while their owners are out and looks hilarious!

Petplan and Universal Pictures recently invited us to take part in an activity day based on the film’s main characters. Dylan and Xander were excited when this bag arrived and even more so when they investigated its contents.

I’ll be letting the cat out of the bag about this later in the week. Sorry…

As well as several goodies from the new film, it contained pencils, pens and crayons. The challenge was to recreate their favourite character. They love drawing – and their cat, She-Ra, of course – so were more than happy to oblige!

After donning the novelty hat that came in the bag and running round pretending to be a dog for ten minutes, Xander decided to draw Max. I think he captured his bemused expression nicely. I’m also proud of his lettering as; he doesn’t start school until September, so has taught himself how to write letters.

He wanted to do another drawing too, so came up with this sketch of Duke. Again, I think he managed to capture something from the original. Clever boy!

Dylan, meanwhile, wanted to draw the film’s lead feline, Chloe. I think he recreated the noticeable difference in size between the moggy’s body and legs well!

Both boys enjoyed the other activities that came in the bag too. These included a mini jigsaw puzzle, wordsearch and maze. It was great to see them enjoying something that didn’t involve a tablet or one of our phones so I’m happy. The tube of Petplan ‘Human Treats’ also went down well!

Taking part in this activity seems to have whetted the boys’ appetite to see The Secret Life of Pets. This is great news, as Kate and I are really looking forward to seeing it!

Petplan’s pet insurance has been helping owners keep their pets healthy since 1976.

The Secret Life of Pets is out now – why not take your kids to see it this weekend?

Your boys are amazing at drawing !!!! Have you managed to go and see the film yet? I have been debating whether or not to take my little one, as it is her 3rd birthday in 2 weeks time and I was hoping she might enjoy it. We took her to the cinema for the first time last weekend to see a preview of the new Ice Age film and she absolutely loved it and keeps asking when we are going back to the cinema!

Thanks Christina. We haven’t managed to see it yet, but we’re really looking forward to it! I’m sure your little one will enjoy it too. 🙂
