TMI – The meme

A computer screen full of complex information.

It’s been a while since I participated in a meme and I was wondering what to write about today, so this one was well timed – thanks to Tammy from Me and the Tiny 3 for tagging me! This one’s called TMI which, if that stands for what I think it does, is also the title of the album I’m listening to most at the moment. I know… cool story, bro – best crack on eh?

1. What are you wearing?
Jeans, a T-shirt that I’ll be reviewing on here soon – nice plug eh? – and a hoodie. Oh, and my awesome slippers. As well as socks and pants, of course – don’t want to be without them.

2. Ever been in love?
Yes.

3. Ever had a terrible break-up?
Not really, no.

4. How tall are you?
5’10” – I think.

5. How much do you weigh?
Somewhere between 12 and 13 stone – we don’t have scales in our house.

6. Any tattoos?
No chance, I’m too much of a wuss for that kind of thing.

7. Any piercings?
No – please see my previous answer.

8. OTP?
I had to look this up – I’m so out of touch with all these TLAs. If it’s a romantic pairing, then Glenn and Maggie on The Walking Dead. If it’s a different kind of partnership, then it has to be Sheringham and Klinsmann.

9. Favourite show?
The Walking Dead. It’s the first thing in ages that has had me truly gripped and I really miss it when it’s between seasons.

10. Favourite bands?
Maxïmo Park. They just get better and better and I’m delighted to report that Dylan and Xander ask to listen to them too!

11. Something you miss?
Sleep! I used to get so much sleep before having kids and now it’s a distant dream. Sigh…

12. Favourite song?
At the moment, it’s Maxïmo Park’s Leave this island. Though it’s not about a desire to go abroad, it’s ringing true at the moment thanks to the apathy of two thirds of the electorate.

13. How old are you?
34½.

14. Zodiac sign?
I don’t believe in that kind of thing – I’m a typical Scorpio like that.

15. Quality you look for in a partner?
A little je ne sais quoi.

16. Favourite quote?
“The great fallacy is that the game is first and last about winning. It’s nothing of the kind. The game is about glory. It’s about doing things in style, with a flourish, about going out and beating the other lot, not waiting for them to die of boredom.” – The late Danny Blanchflower on what football once was about and what it should still be about today.

17. Favourite actor?
Jackie Chan. True, he’s not an amazing actor, but he has excellent comedy timing, has suffered greatly for his art and never gives up on getting his action scenes spot on.

18. Favourite colour?
I seem to own a lot of blue T-shirts, so we’ll go with that.

19. Loud music or soft?
It depends on my mood really.

20. Where do you go when you are sad?
I don’t really. I just stay where I am and try to get on with things as best I can.

21. How long does it take you to shower?
I take absolutely ages as I tend to think about things I need to do and stand there making lists in my head.

22. How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?
When I actually had a job to go to, an hour. Now I’m between jobs, I can’t swear that I’m as speedy!

23. Ever been in a physical fight?
Yes. I got bullied a lot at secondary school and eventually snapped and punched one of the perpetrators after he’d landed a couple on me. He ran off and nobody picked on me again after that.

24. Turn on?
Intelligence.

25. Turn off?
Ignorance. And smoking.

26. The reason I started blogging?
To keep a record of the things my kids got up to and because I enjoy writing.

27. Fears?
Spiders. I’m having to get braver though as everyone else is more afraid of them than I am!

28. The last thing that made you cry?
Stephen Sutton passing away. It seemed so unjust.

29. The last time you said you loved someone?
This morning.

30. Meaning of your blog name?
It’s named after one of George A Romero’s later zombie films, Diary of the Dead. I wanted to call it Dawn of the Dad, but somebody else beat me to it. Tosser.

31. Last book you read?
The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde. It was very entertaining and I even got a fair few of the literary references!

32. The book you are currently reading?
And Another Thing… by Eoin Colfer. I started reading it ages ago, so don’t know if that still counts, but I think it was the last book I started.

33. The last show you watched?
In The Flesh. Not only is it an excellent post-zombie drama that thoroughly deserves the awards it’s won, but the current series is a timely reminder of the dangers of right wing parties getting into power.

34. Last person you talked to?
My wife, Kate.

35. The relationship between you and the last person you texted?
A friend.

36. Favourite food?
Pizza. I could eat it every day and not get bored.

37. Place you want to visit?
I’d like to go to Paris again soon.

38. The last place you were?
Eastbourne. Wahey!

39. Do you have a crush?
Nina from Nina and the Neurons. I can’t be alone in that…

40. Last time you kissed someone?
Just now, I kissed Dylan.

41. Last time you were insulted?
Just now when I kissed Dylan. “I don’t like your beard, Daddy,” he said. “It’s stupid.” He has a point…

42. Favourite flavour of sweet?
Does chocolate count? I fucking love chocolate.

43. What instruments do you play?
I used to play the piano when I was little and have a guitar I can’t play. That’s as close as it gets.

44. Favourite piece of jewellery?
My wedding ring. It’s the only jewellery I wear, but it would be favourite regardless.

45. Last sport you played?
Five-a-side football. I scored 12 goals. Boom!

46. Last song you sang?
Maxïmo Park’s Leave this island while I was in the shower this morning. After I’d finished making those lists in my head, of course.

47. Favourite chat up line?
“Your teeth are like the stars… they come out at night.”

48. Have you ever used it?
Erm, no!

49. Last time you hung out with anyone?
Last night when the kids finally went to sleep, Kate and I watched telly together. We’re mad, we are!

50. Who should answer the questions next?
So this is what it feels like to be an evil overlord… mwa, ha, haaaaa! I’m sincerely sorry to the following people:

Darren at OneDad3Girls
Sarah at Hello Wall…
Jonathan at Dads the way I like it
Katie at Hurrah for gin

Thank you! Yes, I tend to buy my clothes – or at least I did before we had kids. I think the only things I’ve bought since they arrived on the scene have been jeans when they’ve got too worn out to wear anymore! 😉

I love a good Q & A. Uhmmm, Nina? Hmmmn. We used to watch a lot of Cbeebies and my 3-year-old used to love her show. Let’s just say I’m glad she’s over that one 😉 Then again, she is cute I guess. #PoCoLo.
