I’m not very good at shaving regularly. To be honest, it’s a faff that I can’t be bothered with every day. As a result, I tend to deal with it every couple of weeks when it starts to itch. Very technical and style conscious, I’m sure you’ll agree.
Consequently, when I do get round to it, the sink and surrounding area in the bathroom suffer somewhat. And Kate gets justifiably annoyed with me. Thank goodness then, for this beast of a shaver I’ve been given to review and keep.
As its name suggests, the Remington Vacuum Beard & Grooming Kit collects the facial fuzz as it’s trimmed. This means no more mess in the bathroom. Hurrah!
I like to give things a tough test before I recommend them on here, so I suffered for my art and let my beard get to the level that normally causes my old shaver to make an apologetic spluttering noise.
I was also told several times by Dylan and Xander that they didn’t like my beard. They ordered me to take immediate action too. See the lengths I go to for these reviews?
I have to admit that I was dubious as to whether this new model could do what it claimed. I gave it a go though and was very impressed indeed. Compared to my old shaver, it sounded a little like a small aircraft taking off at first, so that immediately dispelled my doubts. The acid test proved successful too.
I had soon taken years off my appearance and the vacuum chamber was full. A few bits of hair ended up in the sink but, to be fair, I’d left it to grow for longer than normal. It sucked up way more than I was expecting it to as well.
The blue plastic beard comb at the end of the shaver is adjustable and very comfortable to use. I had a go without it too for defining my sideburns and, though the blades are self-sharpening titanium, this was a pain-free experience too.
As you can see from the shot below, it comes with a detail trimmer and mini foil shaver. There are four guide combs of various grades too. There’s also a charger, of course, but I haven’t needed to use it yet. The Lithium battery lasts up to 60 minutes and must have been fully charged before being packed.
So, like the device that Garth falls foul of in Wayne’s World, it certainly does suck – but in a good way! I’m really pleased with mine and will be getting rid of my old one.
It’s been a faithful servant and veteran of two Movembers, but there’s no going back now.
The Remington Vacuum Beard & Grooming Kit has an RRP of £54.99 but you could get hold of one for free by entering my competition.
